Mercy Health System of Southeastern Pennsylvania, a member of Catholic
Health East, needed to strengthen the CDM Compliance team supporting
six (6) acute care facilities. An experienced medical auditing professional
was sought to monitor compliance, identify opportunities for revenue
enhancement, and assist in the ongoing initiative to reorganize
the CDM Compliance function under the Chief Compliance Officer.
Traditional recruitment methods failed to produce qualified candidates
over an extended period. The unique criteria for this important
role included in depth clinical knowledge and understanding of compliance,
as well as strong interpersonal skills to effectively achieve results
across multiple institutions and stakeholders within the System.
Management Pathways was engaged to conduct the search and developed
a highly focused strategy within the regional health care market.
Fresh candidate research resulted in the identification of several
target candidates, who were contacted by the MP search team’s
principal consultant. Participation was fostered among referral
sources to enhance the candidate pipeline. Personal interviews revealed
an unusually wide range of clinical experience, backgrounds, compensation
requirements, and communication skills. Two high caliber candidates
were presented to the client for interviews, with the first referral
being made within two (2) weeks from the start of the search.
An exceptional candidate was hired as Compliance Manager, bringing
over fifteen years of experience from a teaching hospital, and background
as a founder and board member of professional associations organized
to advance education within medical auditing. The addition of the
Compliance Manager enabled a successful transition and reorganization
of the CDM Compliance team.
